Why paying for a tattoo design when I can get tattoos for free on the web?
Quality: All designs sold on Shegsy have been designed to be different to the norm and with the hightest quality. There is lots of free flash and free tattoo designs on the Internet, but in general, you get what you pay for and moreover, you will possible end up with the same tattoo as hundreds of people around the world. Remember, you are selecting a design to permanently go on your body and you should want the best.

All Shegsy artwork is tattooable: Some artwork is tattooable, some is not. A tattoo artist may put something on your skin just to make the sale even if it won’t hold up over time. All designs on this site have been conceived as tattoo designs to ensure that they will look perfect once tattooed on the skin.
Free tattoos don’t work out cheaper: Paying an small amount of money for a tattoo design you really like is negligible when comparing it to the total amount you’ll spend to have it tattoed on your skin. Instead of using the highest quality tattoos designs for their trip to the tattoo shop, some people think that copying the idea for a design and taking it to the tattoo parlour will work out cheaper but the reality is quite different. Nobody works for free so be sure that the tattoo parlour will possibly charge you (one way or another) for the time he spends drawing your design. Apart from that, the contribution you make when downloading a design go towards the maintenance of this site, so ensuring that we bring you amazing tattoo designs for years to come.

The primary goal here is that you get the perfect tattoo so don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need any help.

How do I print my tattoo design after I download it?
Any decent color printer will work. For best quality use a laser printer. If you do not have a color printer you can transfer your images to a CD or a memory stick and take it to your nearest copy center.

Can I change the color or size of a design?
After you download your design and print it – Take it to your chosen tattoo artist. Discuss with him/her what you would like to change. Changing the colors and deleting or adding to certain aspects of the design should never be a problem. Most designs can be made larger or smaller. Some designs may not be able to be smaller due to the construction of the design. Your artist will be able to determine that when he/she sees it. You can always talk to another artist for a second opinion.

Note: If you need any of the tattoo designs in a much larger size than the one displayed on this site please contact me and I will ensure you get a top quality version of the design in any size you want.

Do you do commissioned works?
The artist does commissioned works as long as ‘the project’ is an interesting one. Just drop me a line with your request and I’ll make sure that your vision is turned into reality.

Do you have a tattoo shop where to have one of your designs done?
No, as of today the artist only designs tattoos but he does not apply them on the skin.

What technique do you use for designing?
The range of techniques used for designing tattoos varies from charcoal, watercolour, bitmap and vector oriented graphics programs, etc. Raul Ortiz in particular draws on paper and then treats the designs digitally.

Is it true that you always need a line art stencil?
Some tattoo websites promote uncertainty and doubt about this topic by saying that if you bring tattoo designs into a studio without the line art stencil (the basic outline of your design), the tattoo artist will add the time it takes to re-draw the design and create line art into the price of the tattoo. Although this can be true for very complex designs such as portraits where a tattoo stencil comes handy, most tattoo artists prefer to create their own stencils from the designs that customers bring in to the tattoo shop, and any professional tattoo artist will create your stencil in only a few moments and as part of the tattooing process and will not charge you extra for doing so. The reason for this is that the tattoo parlour will always have to re-draw the tattoo design on transfer paper so the drawing sticks to the skin and it is at that point when the tattoo parlour will create the tattoo stencil he really needs for the design at hand.

The tattoo parlour has told me that he cannot tattoo the design I just downloaded
All tattoo designs on this site have been conceived as tattoo designs with the right resolution and size so they can be tattooed without any problems. If this happens to you I recommend visiting another tattoo studio and seek a second opinion. Some inexperienced or unskilled tattoo artists usually (and luckily) avoid complicated jobs and prefer to refuse work justifying themselves on the grounds that the supplied tattoo design is not appropriate. Obviously tattoo designs that contain many details and/or fine lines leave no margin for errors so you should look for the best possible artist. In this regard I can not stress enough the importance of researching your artist’s previous works and studio.

What rights do I have over the design(s) I have purchased?
ALL images sold through SHEGSY.com are copyrighted and intended to be used for your PERSONAL USE ONLY. Using designs for resale is a violation of international copyright law, a crime punishable by law. Shegsy designs are to be used only for the application of tattoos. Please respect the designs and do not trade or sell them to others.
